Best Website Screenshot APIs in 2026, Compared by Price
There are dozens of APIs that turn a URL into an image. Most of them work well; the real differences are price per screenshot, free tier and what else you get with the same account.
We compared seven of them using each provider’s public pricing page (October 2026). We make one of them — JsonLink — so we’ve kept the comparison to facts you can check.
Pricing at a glance
Price per 1,000 screenshots, calculated from each plan’s monthly price and included screenshots:
| API | Free tier | Entry plan | Per 1,000 (entry) | Per 1,000 (~100k/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JsonLink | 50 / month | $15 · 25,000 | $0.60 | $0.49 |
| thum.io | ~1,000 / month, no key | $1 minimum | $0.20 | $0.10 |
| Microlink | 100 / month | $49 · 46,000 | $1.07 | $1.07 |
| ScreenshotAPI.net | 7-day trial | $9 · 1,000 | $9.00 | $1.75 |
| ApiFlash | 100 / month | $7 · 1,000 | $7.00 | $1.80 |
| ScreenshotOne | 100 / month | $17 · 2,000 | $8.50 | $5.18 (50k) |
| Urlbox | 7-day trial | $19 · 2,000 | $9.50 | $6.60 (15k) |
JsonLink plans are sold in credits shared with its other endpoints; a screenshot costs 2 credits, so the $15 plan (50,000 credits) covers 25,000 screenshots. Microlink also counts every call — screenshot, metadata or PDF — as one request.
How to choose
- Estimate your monthly volume. A plan that is cheap at 1,000 screenshots can be expensive at 50,000.
- Decide what you need back. Some APIs return the image itself (easy to use in an
<img>tag); others return JSON with a link to the file (easier to store and process on your server). - Check the capture options: full page, mobile viewport, retina scale, image format and quality, delays for animations, hiding cookie banners.
- Look at what else the account includes. If you also need link previews or page text, one API for everything saves integrations and money.
The APIs
JsonLink
A web data API: screenshots plus link metadata, URL to Markdown, links and images with one key. Screenshots support full page, any viewport, retina (device_scale_factor), JPG/PNG with quality, and delays; cookie banners are hidden automatically. Failed requests aren’t charged.
curl "https://jsonlink.io/api/screenshot?url=https://github.com&full_page=true&api_key=YOUR_API_KEY"
Good fit: apps that need screenshots at volume, or screenshots together with metadata or Markdown. Plans: $15 / $49 / $99 a month.
thum.io
The simplest option: the screenshot is an image URL, no signup needed for the first ~1,000 a month. Very cheap per screenshot.
Good fit: thumbnails in a page, prototypes, low-maintenance use where you just need an image URL.
Microlink
A browser automation API with screenshots, metadata, PDFs and more under one request count. Works without a key on the free plan (100 requests a month).
Good fit: projects that want many browser features in one service and fit within its plans.
ApiFlash
A screenshot API built on Chrome with a free plan of 100 screenshots a month and low-cost entry plans ($7 for 1,000).
Good fit: small, steady screenshot volumes.
ScreenshotAPI.net
Screenshot API with plans from $9 for 1,000 and a 7-day trial.
Good fit: teams that want a dedicated screenshot service with mid-range pricing at higher volumes.
ScreenshotOne
A dedicated screenshot API with a free plan of 100 screenshots a month and plans from $17.
Good fit: teams that want a screenshot-only service with many capture options.
Urlbox
A premium screenshot API with plans from $19 and a 7-day trial.
Good fit: teams that prioritize a long-established, screenshot-focused provider over price.
Our take
- Cheapest image URL: thum.io.
- Best price for a full JSON API at volume, and more than screenshots with one key: JsonLink.
- Screenshot-only specialists: ScreenshotOne, Urlbox, ApiFlash, ScreenshotAPI.net — compare them at your expected volume.
